Summary
The Welder Technician Lead directly oversees the welding operations for assigned area or department, including inspections, welder continuity, training, goal tracking, team coaching, and any required documentation as directed by the facility management.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
Provides direction and assistance to production personnel and supervises assigned work force crew, providing training and guidance.
Establish and track department efficiency goals.
Track department rework. Analyze rework and establish corrective and preventative actions.
Ensures personnel have applicable tools, and procedures, to complete required tasks being performed.
Monitors and evaluates employee performance, maintain employee development.
Ensures personnel sign off work orders as line items are completed.
Signs off on completed work orders and notifies Foreman when work is completed.
Performs in process inspections, writes up and supervises any additional repairs.
Ensures work is being performed in accordance with all applicable Association of American Railroads, The Greenbrier Companies, and customer procedures.
Ensures all applicable regulatory and statutory requirements are followed.
Ensures all EHS rules are followed and maintains work area in clean and orderly condition and maintains a safe work environment through awareness of surroundings and potential hazards.
Promotes and exhibits a positive attitude of teamwork with all employees and encourages inclusion within their department and others.
Qualifications
The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications
1 year of team leadership or supervisiary experience.
Qualified in FCAW-G Welding Process in minimum 2G position prior to employment. (Welding test can be provided on site.)
Accommodate on-call responsibilities and work overtime when needed.
Drive results through information and team performance.
Organize and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to details.
Ability to communicate team performance at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
2+ year(s) work related leadership or supervisory experience in manufacturing.
2+ years welding experience
