The Marine Production Planning Specialist will plan and coordinate all Marine Production activities to improve schedule adherence and achieve budgeted labor hours for marine projects. The implementation of new automation in marine production (HGG Pipe Cutting machine & new HGG Profile Cutting machine), and additional Microsoft Dynamics process improvements to accurately consume all materials to each marine project requires improved planning and coordination between supervisors across all shifts. This position will be responsible for training and assisting all marine foremen in this area.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create, update, maintain and communicate master marine production schedule.
Coordinate Marine Production Supervision and all internal support fabrication shops, warehouse, and material handling to ensure that material and parts need dates are met to ensure project production schedules are achieved.
Liaison with marine Engineering and Planning teams to ensure that engineering drawing and material need dates meet the project production schedules.
Work with Marine Production Manager to evaluate vessel design to set panel schedule, determine man hours required to perform tasks in all production work cells, and create logic driven schedules to execute the work.
Maintain weekly marine labor forecast and communicate results and project status with marine supervision.
Strategic understanding of the Hull Structure, Electrical, Equipment, Pipe and Outfitting work processes.
Conceptualize sequence of events required to execute production and operational efforts efficiently, including manpower limitations in development of production schedules
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Ability to handle multiple tasks congruently.
Ability to work in team environment with cross functional groups.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experienced with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, MS Project software
Experience with MS Dynamics is strongly preferred
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to self-monitor in terms of meeting deadlines and working with little supervision
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience & Education
- At least 5 years of experience in fast paced manufacturing related production planning is required with a strong preference for prior marine vessel construction and/or repair.
