SUMMARY
Operate specialty machinery to fabricate and manufacture quality parts according to specifications. Assemble parts for production. Work in a safe and efficient manner to meet production deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are typical for this role. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
Operate one or more of the following (depending on the assigned area): shears, manual and CNC press brakes, CNC plasma-punch, punches, iron worker, drill press, lathe, milling machines, burning machines and other like machines
Maintain and monitor machine to make sure it functions properly
Verify adequate materials and supplies are available to complete operations as needed
Analyze machine operations and output if applicable
Adjust machine as needed for changeovers, different functions, or other varying needs of production
Use grinder and edge prep machines
Use tape measure to assure parts meet specifications
Assemble parts by following assembly drawings
Maintain accurate part counts and quality
Perform various shop related tasks as assigned by area supervision
Utilize various specialty hand tools including tape measures, hammers, sledge hammers, hoists, pry bars, impact wrenches, air compressor paintbrushes, levels
Safely perform job duties with little guidance, with a high level of efficiency and accuracy
Keep paperwork in order
Keep work area clean
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The following generally describes requirements to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Strong mechanical aptitude
Basic math skills; must be able to read a tape measure and convert fractions
Ability to read and understand blueprints
Ability to set up machines safely and efficiently
Ability to follow safety procedures
Ability to follow verbal/written instructions
Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
Motivated to continuously improve and learn new skills
Education and Experience
Experience assembling mechanical parts using blueprints required
Experience and familiarity with various hand tools required
Minimum of 6 months experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environment preferred
Machine operating experience preferred
