SUMMARY
The Marine Drafter is responsible for assisting Design Engineers to design vessel structure, piping, machinery, and outfitting details. Develop 2D/3D AutoCAD detail drawings and assist in providing part details, nesting plans, and CNC coding for the steel burning machines.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are typical for this role. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
Prepare or revise engineering drawings in accordance with the marked-up prints, sketches, or verbal instructions provided by senior staff.
Create multiple view drawings with appropriate details and section views, dimensions, and tolerances per department drafting standards.
Create ShipConstructor models and assembly drawings.
Trained in accordance with job responsibilities and applicable specifications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Drawings and bills of material are accurate and finished on time.
Drawings are in compliance with department drafting standards.
Show good work ethic and must have a good attendance record.

Education and Experience
A minimum of two (2) years AutoCAD drafting experience.
4-year college degree with previous CAD training/experience is a plus;
OR Community College graduate with an associate degree in drafting is required.
Knowledge of using ShipConstructor or other 3D modeling software will be a plus.
Marine industry experience is not required but will be considered a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Working Conditions
Office setting (95% of the time)
Will gather information in a heavy industrial environment (<5%). The plant conditions will require: work around traffic and heavy manufacturing equipment, work at heights on scaffolding and ladders, in dim-lit areas, on slippery or uneven surfaces, exposure to heat, cold, noise, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, chemicals, and inclement weather conditions.
