Job Summary:
Obtain bids, negotiate, and place purchase orders for materials required to support all Greenbrier Manufacturing Operations in accordance with company guidelines, goals and objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Research, compile, and analyze data to ensure material is secured at the most competitive total cost.
Prepare bids and cost estimates.
Review proposals to ensure compliance to required specifications.
Drive the supplier selection process and manage material lead-times in accordance with market conditions.
Work collaboratively with engineering, production, and other business units to procure material and ensure production requirements are satisfied.
Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with established procedures. Revise and update purchase orders as required.
Coordinate replacement of defective material and make adjustments for any shipment discrepancies.
Effectively manage inventory levels in accordance with company goals and expectations.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree
2 years of related work experience preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft applications
Experience with an ERP system
Strong communication, analytical and time management skills
Ability to estimate material costs
High level of accuracy and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
Self-motivated; ability to work well in a team environment
Demonstrate integrity and ability to effectively manage vendor relationships
Ability to maintain objectivity and confidentiality
