Summary
The Paint Equipment Mechanic maintains all pumps, bulldog and gun machinery. They will repair and replace any and all parts as necessary to keep processes moving. They are responsible for checking environmentals prior to starting the pumps.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
Checks continuity of ground cables in paint kitchen, prime bay, and top coat bay,
Checks labels on all waste and transports hazardous waste to hazmat pad,
Checks climate and metal temperature of car before applying coating, and checks high and low shut –off on pumps daily
Cleans pump filters daily
Mixes all paint for application to cars
Repairs all pumps and spray guns, as needed
Uses a forklift, as necessary, to move batches of paint and other materials
Maintains inventory of all coatings daily
Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained
Qualifications
The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications
1+ years’ experience in paint mixing and use of paint distribution system
1+ years’ experience working in manufacturing environment
6+ months experience operating forklift
Ability to undergo and pass company forklift training course
Ability to be fit-tested and wear a respirator in the areas where respirator use is required
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to work in a team or alone
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency test/GED

This position is in a production environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving railcars and machinery, and trip hazards where head, hearing, eye, and foot protection including composite toed safety boots, are required.
This position will be exposed to hazardous chemicals which requires the use of a blast suit, gloves, and wearing a respirator. For Safety purposes, employees must be clean-shaven when wearing a respirator.
Additional personal protective equipment may be required as determined by the environment.
This position may be required to work at heights of up to 20 ft or within confined spaces.
