The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. Sr. Financial Analyst in Lake Oswego, Oregon

Position Summary

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will work as part of a collaborative team on a broad range of responsibilities, including investor relations, forecasting and operational analysis, strategic planning, acquisitions, treasury and valuation. Your primary focus will be on financial planning & analysis and investor relations. This role will allow you to make full use of your strong problem-solving aptitude and analytical skills as well as your experience creating complex financial pro forma models in Excel.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and update Investor relations schedules and presentations.

  • Develop high level updates to annual Plan for use in communicating financial expectations.

  • Support annual financial planning process including interfacing with all business units to accumulate financial information supporting documentation for assumptions. Upload operations forecasts into current planning software. Consolidate stand - alone information into consolidated Plan taking intercompany activities into consideration. Assist in Plan analysis including working capital, business trends and variances.

  • Regular analysis of a variety of information to identify trends and recommend action. Provide key financial and business support to drive financial improvements.

  • Prepare and update reports used in Board of Director and Committee meetings.

  • Act as a partner to business unit staff including Operations, Sales and Engineering to implement process improvements supporting and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Responsible for accuracy, completeness and timeliness of financial analysis and other projects.

  • Account analysis, problem solving, attention to detail and writing of commentary and analytical summaries.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated skill and ability to interact with employees at all levels with tact, confidentiality and diplomacy

  • Desire to learn and understand the "how" and "why" behind the information -- be able to communicate the "so what" from analysis

  • Skill, ability and flexibility to perform multiple tasks and functions concurrently in a fast paced, dynamic environment

  • Proven background in self-management and self-motivated

  • Maintains the highest standards of conduct and ethical behavior and exercises sound professional judgment

Qualifications continued

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required

  • 3-5 years relevant work experience with a focus on finance and analysis

  • Accounting experience is a plus

  • Strong computer skills with an ability to learn a variety of systems and applications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a focus on Excel

  • Ability to think creatively and problem solve
