Summary
The Senior Director, Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis reports to the Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible for leading and managing the Company's financial forecasting and annual planning process and will oversee the Company’s related corporate planning and forecasting tool, OneStream. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial planning and analysis function, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and providing strategic financial insights to drive informed decision-making at the executive level, as well as support quarter end reporting and Audit Committee/Board reporting. This strategic role builds cross functional, collaborative relationships and working groups to partner with personnel across geographies, functions, and business units to successfully execute on enterprise-wide initiatives. The Sr. Director, Finance and Corporate FP&A has experience in implementing and realizing scalable efficiencies and solutions, processes, and system enhancements and improvements, coupled with complex problem-solving, risk management and cost savings.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
Oversees Greenbrier's annual operating plan process, including preparation and/or review of corporate department budgets, and subsequent analysis of SG&A variances and related reporting.
Oversees the preparation and distribution of financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, working capital and SG&A analyses. Conducts in-depth financial analysis, interpret results, and provide recommendations to senior management for performance improvement and risk mitigation and support strategic decision-making.
Partners closely and regularly with both business and functional teams to track financial and operational performance, evaluate investment opportunities and strategic resource allocation, and identify risks and opportunities to the Company’s annual plan and financial forecasts.
Leads the consolidation and review of quarterly forecasts and related analysis and reporting.
Prepares and updates reports used in Board of Director and Committee meetings as well as prepares various quarterly management and board reports.
Drives complex financial modeling development, enhancement, and maintenance
Leads implementation enhancements associated with planning and forecasting software (OneStream), including prioritization of future enhancements, collaboration with business units to facilitate effective and efficient adoption, as well as leading training as needed and administering the tool with appropriate permissions and workflow.
Provides effective leadership and support to the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Mentors and develops team members, providing guidance and support and enhance their skills and knowledge.
Performs internal control self-assessment testing
Supports executive leadership with various financial reporting requests, transaction work, special projects and continuous improvement projects as needed
Qualifications
The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, CPA
12+ years of experience in finance, FP&A and/or accounting with increasing responsibilities, including managing people and teams
Extensive expertise in P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, working capital and SG&A analysis
Strong working knowledge of financial statements and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data into trends, assessments and actionable insights and opportunities
Ability to manage individuals in complex finance organizations with a focus on mentoring and professional development
Ability to collaborate and communicate professionally at all levels of the organization and
Ability to present information professionally in person, verbally, and in writing, to a broad range of audiences, including communicating financial information to financial and non-financial stakeholders, including Executive leadership
Experience with special projects, transaction, and continuous improvement projects, with a track record of implementing business process efficiencies
Proficiency in financial software and systems with an ability to learn a variety of systems, applications, and financial planning tools (e.g., OneStream, BPC, HFM, Microsoft D365)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a focus on Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to analyze and find solutions to complex issues
Ability to work effectively with accurate turnaround under tight timeframes
Skill, ability, and flexibility to perform multiple tasks and functions concurrently in a fast paced, dynamic environment
