Summary

The IT Network Engineer is a subject matter expert in Enterprise networks and infrastructure. This position plans, implements, and maintains complex network infrastructures that support our organization's business requirements, and ensures the smooth operation of global cloud based and on-prem network infrastructures.

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Plans enterprise network infrastructures that are efficient, secure, and scalable. This includes participating in the selection of appropriate hardware and software components, as well as automating core network infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and maintenance tasks.

  • Installs hardware and software components, configures network devices, and tests the network to ensure it meets performance and security requirements. Migration of technology solutions from on-prem to cloud platforms

  • Identifies and manages maintenance of the network, monitors network performance, troubleshoots network issues, and updates network devices as necessary to meet performance and security standards.

  • Ensures the security of the network infrastructure. This includes implementing firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures to protect against external and internal threats.

  • Upgrades the network infrastructure as necessary to ensure it continues to meet business requirements, and plans for network expansion to support business growth.

  • Documents the network infrastructure, including network diagrams, configuration files, and standard operating procedures.

  • Collaborates with other IT teams, including security, server, and application teams, to ensure the network infrastructure integrates with other systems.

  • Trains IT operations teams and team members on network-related management and operational support tasks, such as accessing network resources, tools, troubleshooting network issues, and using network applications.

Qualifications

The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience in a related field.

  • 5 years of experience in IT network engineering, with a focus on Enterprise systems and infrastructure.

  • Advanced proficiency in network design, implementation, and maintenance.

  • Experience working with HW/SW/Networks and related resources, including consultants, vendors and telecommunication and Internet service providers.

  • Experience in infrastructure as code and automation using tools such as Ansible and Terraform

  • Proficiency with network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLAN.

  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures.

  • Experience with monitoring and performance management tools

  • Ability to analyze and find solutions to difficult or complex issues.

  • Experience with Microsoft enterprise applications including Azure, M365, SharePoint/ Teams, and Azure DevOps

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA

  • Familiar with ITIL, and experience working in an ITSM platforms
