Summary
The Regulatory Compliance Auditor is responsible for scheduling and conducting compliance audits at Greenbriers Wheel & Parts Facilities, Freight Car Repair facilities and Tank Car Repair facilities. This position is responsible for producing audit reports for management and facility representatives’ analysis and corrective action development as needed, supports owned and managed railcar assets by performing facility audits and training to Greenbrier Management Services (GMS) Regulatory & Maintenance Program procedures and reports, and Training to Regulatory Management Programs include providing guidance to repair shops on use of procedures, reports, and e-Reports. This position travels an estimated 70% with work outside of regular business hours in remote locations.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
Provides oversight and training to the Greenbrier repair shop networks focusing on the GMS Qualification and Maintenance instructions, inspections, and reporting.
Identifies, reports, and communicates requirements of the GMS Regulatory Management and maintenance programs to appropriate parties including equipment owners and repair facilities. Provides feedback to GMS Management on shop use of Regulatory Management Program, reports and e-Reports to assist in system and program enhancements.
Performs compliance audits to AAR M-1003, M-1002 and applicable facility QA programs for GRS Wheel & Parts facilities, Freight Car Repair facilities and Tank Repair facilities.
Communicates and collaborates with shop networks and GBRX Engineering regarding inspection data qualities.
Develops audit reports and training materials.
Communicates Regulatory Management Program requirements to shop networks, car owners, and/or customers as needed.
Monitors and assists in implementations of industry required changes and regulations accordingly.
Maintains NDT Level II status in one or more techniques (e.g., LT, PT, MT, VT and UTT preferred).
Attends industry events as company representatives.
Qualifications
The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO-9001 and AAR M-1003).
Experience generating detailed reports on audit and field inspection findings.
Ability to negotiate audit, repair, and maintenance issues that may require resolution with customers and repairing agents.
Ability to collaborate and communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, at all levels
Ability to drive results working with customers and ensure industry standards, federal regulations, and customer requirements are met.
Ability to address and support customer needs.
Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing ladders, entering tank car confined spaces through small openings, walking on top of rail cars at heights above 13-feet, safely opening and closing freight car doors, opening, and closing freight car hatch covers and outlet gates, bending and crawling under railcars, balancing, and walking long distances on uneven surfaces.
Ability to identify, plan, start, and complete projects or other work that needs to be accomplished.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members and service providers.
Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet-based software.
Ability to learn new software.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with accuracy and perform in a conceptual and technical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred certification in auditor training (e.g., ASQ / AAR).
Knowledge of welding processes relating to repair / manufacturing Preferred
Knowledge of tank car design, construction, qualification, and maintenance Preferred

This position is in both an office and a production environment with exposure to heat, cold, wet, humid, dry, arid, dusty conditions with noise, moving machinery and trip hazards where personal protective equipment such as head, eye, hearing, and foot protection are required. This position may be exposed to welding, machining, forming, metal surface treatment, laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other metal working and assembly processes. Additional PPE may be required as determined by the environment.
