The Greenbrier Companies is seeking an Assistant Asset Manager (Fleet Maintenance) . This position will Work with the Sr. Manager Asset Management and Asset Managers to provide maintenance and management support of Greenbrier owned and/or managed railcar assets including audit billing, communicate with cars owners, customers, parts vendor's, repair shops and mobile repair service providers and with both internal and external team members . Position would require performance of the audit process of repair estimate, procedures and invoicing responsibilities as defined by the Sr. Manager. Management of the railcar assets through all mechanical and maintenance phases of its life, and the ability to communicate information and the status of that asset to its owner.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively assist in the disposition or coordinate mobile repairs for bad order or defective railcars. Includes communicating with the repairing party with required instructions and documentation for proper repair

  • Assist Asset Managers to exercise judgement regarding repair shop selection determined by nature of defects and type of railcar.

  • Assist in creating shopping notifications using Greenbrier procedures

  • Assist in manage and expedite to the extent possible the process of bad order and program cars going in and out of repair shops using various Greenbrier systems

  • Review and process railcar repair estimates from repair shops and mobile repair service providers

  • Communicate with car owner and/or customers for repair estimate approvals as needed

  • Communicate as the liaison between GMS and the car owner/customer and the repair service provider

  • Verify repair cost and procedures meet industry and Greenbrier standards

  • Assist in the audit and process of both contract shop and AAR maintenance repair invoices

  • Assist in the management process for scrapping cars as needed

  • Assist with communicating and assist in coordinating warranty repair as needed

  • Maintain customer status reports as needed

  • Maintain reports, parts and component data information in Greenbrier' maintenance system

  • Communicate directly with car owners and customers as needed as Customer Service Provider

  • Communicate and participate as needed with Engineering and Compliance teams

  • Assist in railcar inspections as needed

  • Assist with shop audit inspections as needed

  • Participate in communication, conference calls and/or face to face meetings as needed

  • Travel within the United State, Canada and Mexico as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must have a strong work ethic and be self-motivated and self-managing. The ability to work diligently and independently is a must, as well as work with other team members and service providers

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in office and in field settings

  • Excellent working knowledge of computers, PC software (MS Office, Internet-based software) is a must

  • Ability to multitask simultaneously with limited supervision
