The GRS Regional EHS Manager will be responsible for a wide variety of environmental, occupational health and safety (EHS) initiatives across GRS assigned regional locations. These responsibilities include coordinating GRS EHS compliance efforts, communicating EHS initiatives, identifying and managing EHS resources and supporting other company-wide EHS programs. This position includes detailed, hands-on support, leadership and technical guidance to GRS site managers and plant management personnel. Reviews, evaluates and analyzes work environments associated with EHS conditions -- and makes recommendations for improvements and corrective actions. Along with this, significant EHS project management at regional site operations is required.
The Regional EHS Manager will report directly to the GRS Corporate EHS Manager with a dotted line accountability to the individual, specific operations site management.
Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities are listed below. Other duties may be assigned.
*Direct support to site plant personnel in the execution of GRS EHS programs and initiatives
*Provides direct support, guidance and assistance to sites in their evaluation of regulatory compliance status, compliance gap assessments and associated corrective action/preventive action (CAPA) activities
*Provides direct support, guidance and assistance to sites in the development and roll out of EHS related training programs
*Provides direct support, guidance and assistance to sites in technical EHS related requirements, initiatives and projects: - e.g. industrial hygiene monitoring, environmental sampling, environmental control technologies and DOT regulatory driven training and compliance activities
*Manages the evaluation and implementation of personal protective equipment (PPE) within region(s) - and reports information gathered to GRS EHS Corporate and other Regional EHS Mangers
*Provides direct support, guidance and assistance to sites in the evaluation and management of Workers Compensation cases and related issues
*Develops and distributes key EHS performance metrics generated in Intelex including incident rates, near-miss and other EHS incidents
*Creates and distributes EHS Intelex data and dashboards that that reflect site and region related performance
*Provides direct support, guidance and assistance to site EHS managers and plant management in the performance of site EHS self-assessment audits
*Provides direct support, guidance and assistance to site personnel in the understanding, management and closure of those activities associated with corporate EHS audit findings
*Interfaces with other Regional EHS managers in the development and communication of EHS best practices
*Interface with GRS Corporate on the development and review of subject specific policies, programs and initiatives
*Provides direct support, guidance and assistance to site operations regarding activities associated with OSHA, DOT and EPA compliance requirements
*Provides direct support, guidance and assistance to GRS site EHS Management personnel in the acquisition of and maintenance to environmental permits
*Provides the leadership and support to the regions development of Behavior Based Safety (BBS) and other critical foundational EHS risk management programs and monitors the individual sites compliance to these initiatives
*Provides to region(s) and GRS EHS corporate, periodic and on-going monitoring of individual site compliance to EHS policies and procedures
*Develops scheduled (i.e. weekly/monthly/quarterly) communication media (newsletters, etc.) to regional and site management on key initiatives (i.e. BBS, Intelex)
*Provides technical support associated with site utilization of Intelex
*Provides direction, management and follow up on EHS related incidents -- including accuracy analysis of incident information reported in Intelex
*Monitors and manages as required, individual site-specific EHS initiatives (i.e. JSA's, training programs, risk specific activities)
*Primary EHS support to those sites that do not have a EHS manager
*Works closely regional management in the development of region specific EHS leading indicators
*Works closely with the sites in development of EHS activities that drive GBW 4DX initiatives
*Provides direct support, guidance and assistance to sites in the management of site/region/GRS-wide, specific OSHA, DOT and EPA compliance inspection abatement requirements
*In conjunction with regional operations and corporate EHS, prepares statement of work, bid packages and management of outside technical EHS consultants
*Assists in the planning and management of resources available to GRS risk control services, leveraging the resources of insurance carriers and claims administration
Education and Experience
*Minimum five years' work experience within manufacturing environment
*Ability to manage and balance multiple projects and responsibilities
*Ability to travel up to 50% to regional sites
*Two to four years of Environmental Compliance and Safety experience and or training is Required
*Bachelor's degree from a four year college/university or equivalent combination of experience and education is preferred.
