CMS Team Member assists with mechanical and billing aspects of Greenbrier's Sustainable Railcar projects. CMS provides technical support to the North American Commercial Team, with a primary goal of ensuring all customer technical requirements are understood and assist in the communication of technical details between the customer and various internal departments. The CMS receives specific work assignments from the Commercial Team with limited supervision, working independently or in concert with internal Greenbrier areas such as Commercial, Leasing, Engineering and Manufacturing. The CMS will ensure the Customer's expectations are met before and throughout the alteration job and billing/invoicing process.
Participate in joint customer calls with the field Sales Team to provide technical support
Collaborate with field Sales Representatives to understand customer requirements during the bidding and RFQ process for Alteration opportunities.
Review the technical specifications, MSD's and any other customer-provided documents
Review and analyze technical requirements for Post-Award projects
Establish rapport with Greenbrier Manufacturing Operations to understand 1.) Customer set-up in billing systems 2.) Customer specific SOW and/or work instructions 3.) Template creation and estimate auditing 4.) Customer billing system access and submitting of information
Work with Greenbrier Manufacturing to understand AAR Field Manual Rules
Work closely with Greenbrier Manufacturing locations in North America and Greenbrier Logistics to help ensure suitable delivery timing of candidate cars to the plant.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills -- this position will work directly with senior management on a periodic basis.
Strong work ethic with a high degree of flexibility to respond to shifting priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere; able to maintain professionalism when experiencing change in work tasks and/or the work environment.
Work effectively with colleagues (Sales Representatives, Manufacturing Personnel, Customers, etc.) located across all of North America.
Candidate must be fluent in railcar design and AAR and FRA regulatory requirements.
Excellent communication skills, both customer-facing and internally, are integral to the success of this position.
Contract & AAR Billing Rules
Proficiency across Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint, as well as aptitude to acquire proficiency in Greenbrier proprietary applications (Entrust & Enspire)
Working knowledge of Customer Billing Platforms (RAS, UBS, etc.)
Travel may be required and would be based on the level of support required by the plants
Education and Experience:
Technical Engineering degree will be considered in combination with relevant work experience.
6 + years of rail industry experience required.
Tank car and hopper car design or maintenance experience favored.
Knowledge of AAR and FRA regulatory requirements.
Fluency in Spanish would be preferred.
