The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. Director, Procurement & Logistics in Corsicana, Texas
The Procurement & Logistics Director is responsible for the tactical and strategic procurement of commodities, supplies, equipment, and services to be used by the Company. The incumbent will also be responsible for overseeing the logistics related to both purchased goods and the delivery of finished goods produced by Greenbrier Rail Services. This is a centralized senior position within the organization with direct corporate responsibilities and the Director shall coordinate his/her efforts with various departments and managers to maintain appropriate inventory levels. The incumbent will utilize expert knowledge and experience to purchase goods and services that meet quality requirements and specifications at the most favourable price for the company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers. Additional responsibilities include the strategic forecasting, contract negotiation and the development of purchasing policies to ensure the availability of all necessary materials.

Ensure procurement and logistic activities achieve established goals and assist all other functions in the organization in achieving their quality, schedule and cost goals.
Manage department budget to assure financial goals and objectives are met by monitoring, negotiating and approving purchasing contracts and expenses.
Build external and internal business relationships to gather information, identify market and industry trends, build partnership and alliances to support and facilitate the company's objectives and plans.
Supervise and/or negotiate complex requests for equipment, commodities, supplies and services from suppliers and sub-contractors to acquire high quality products and services at lower costs.
Maintain current knowledge of laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices.
Ensure the development and maintenance of work-systems, negotiation methods, goals and objectives, management systems, teamwork, and resource management.
Ensure all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
Develop and implement action plans to support strategic plans.
Effectively plan for succession and career development.
Maintain a high code of ethics and conduct.
Other duties shall be assigned as required.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
7-10 years' progressive experience in a purchasing/procurement role.
5 or more years in a management or director role.
Comprehensive experience drafting vendor agreements.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience working with third-party logistics providers
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Able to work efficiently as a part of a team and independently.
Excellent time and project management skills.
Experience in the Railway industry preferred
