The purpose of this position is to ensure raw materials, production processes, procedures, and products or services comply with regulatory and quality standards and are in accord with current GRS and Customer requirements. This position will oversee the organization and coordination of the GRS local facility Quality Assurance Program including all aspects stated in this job description.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
Oversee and perform local quality program duties under the oversight of the Regional Quality manager.
Maintain a local facility master document list and ensure all quality documents used at the respective GRS facility are the latest revision.
Facilitate internal, customer and regulatory audits at the respective facility.
Support the Plant/General Manager to drive quality assurance and quality control activities at the facility to ensure compliance and success with customer audits, corporate audits, and 3rd party certification audits (AAR M-1003, GRS Quality Management System, etc.).
Notify Production or Plant Coordinator when nonconformances are found on in-process and completed railcars.
Audit rework and nonconformance data submissions for review with facility management team to initiate quarterly corrective action plans.
Advise Regional Quality Manager when revisions to local quality documents are needed or when local procedures and process changes are needed.
Organize and control Local facility quality documents.
Work along-side Plant/General Manager to monitor In-process and Final Inspection processes and all QA activities to ensure QA employees have the organizational freedom and authority to identify and record quality nonconformances for corrective actions.
Fill in for QA personnel in their absence (i.e., Inspectors).
Work along-side Plant/General Manager to audit final car files and or products to ensure work orders have been signed off and all associated forms completed before car or product shipment.
Ensure all applicable quality document and process revisions are communicated to all affected personnel and outside contractors and document training.
Perform Quality process audits to ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of process controls to include verification of quality of materials, processes, products, work instructions and procedures.
Work along-side Plant/General Manager to perform subcontractor evaluations prior to subcontractor performing onsite requested services.
Assist the PM with contract review meetings with the facility management team for new customer scopes of work and in-process changes.
With support from regional management advise and work with Plant/General Manager to coordinate and schedule quality, special process and function specific training for worker with the GRS Technical Trainer to ensure employees are properly trained and possess the knowledge and skill necessary to do their jobs Safely, effectively and efficiently.
Oversee and maintain calibration of all measure and test equipment and welding machine calibrations and verifications.
Work along-side Plant/General Manager to coordinate the local activities associated with supplier quality and continuous improvement of supplier performance. (AAR Chapter 7 reporting system)
Advise and guide the Plant/General Manager of the local document and record control processes to ensure the proper transfer and retention of information.
Organize and maintain all SmartSheet Quality Program Calibration, Qualification and Maintenance Logs.
With support from regional management, champion the root cause corrective action process within INTELEX, guiding and developing facility management to solve problems at the root.
Work along-side Plant/General Manager to ensure all applicable AAR Standards, Rules, FRA regulatory and customer requirements are followed.
With guidance from regional management, support the business in the interpretation and application of quality standards, customer requirements, packaging standards, and product engineering specifications to ensure product conformance.
Act as customer Liaison, including communication of technical issues or other customer requests.
Serve as lead representative for all facility quality issues and maintain strong customer relations through timely and accurate communication and problem resolution.
Occasional after-hours and weekend work when required to meet customer expectations or program preparation for upcoming audits.
Support core value campaigns and follow all EHS and Quality rules and cardinal sin policies.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned including special processes.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma preferred, but not required.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience preferred, but not required.
